Hello, my name is Dafiny Alves. I am an integrative counsellor and Clinical supervisor, also a certified anxiety practitioner. anxiety—and trauma-informed practitioner and a member of the BACP and NCPS. I specialise in working with neurodivergent young people and young adults. As an Integrative counsellor, my approach allows me to use different tools to help you explore your past and/or present and your relationships. If needed, I can help you connect some dots and find some clarity in why you may do things in a certain way, allowing you to change if that is what you want. People often ask me how my sessions look and if I verbalise my thoughts in them or just sit in silence nodding. If you are wondering this as well, the answer is yes! I will be honest, reflective, open, and curious in our work. As I am a creative person In my sessions we can use a range of techniques such as: grounding, mindfulness, breathing exercises, psychoeducation, solution focus exercises (CBT), with my younger clients we can play games, do some role play, drawing, crafts, use blobs/ feelings cards, videos or music; etc as long as you are comfortable to use them, as the base of my work is client -centred - I firmly believe that You know what is best for you even if right now you do not feel that you do.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in both theoretical knowledge and my lived experience as a neurodivergent person, which deepens my empathy and connection with young people and young adults. I offer a space where we can collaboratively explore your inner world using Internal Family Systems (IFS), a model that helps us understand the different “parts” of you that may hold conflicting thoughts, feelings, or behaviours. Whether we’re unpacking anxiety, people-pleasing, masking, or self-doubt, we approach these parts with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment. I also believe the body holds valuable insight, so we take moments in our sessions to gently “check in” with what’s happening physically—helping to build awareness and connection between your emotional and bodily experiences. There’s no right or wrong way to show up in therapy; your pace and your truth are what guide our work. One thing clients often take away from mine sessions is a deeper ability to reflect on what drives their feelings and actions—laying the foundation for meaningful and lasting changes.

I have experience counselling a diverse range of people; pre-teens, adolescents, young adults, from different cultural backgrounds including neurodivergent people like me, since 2018 when I first started counselling, my experience has been in school settings, independent mental health charities, I also offered short-term therapy to Portuguese and Italians speakers’ clients via the IAPT service in South London. I coordinated a counselling service in a women’s only charity in Harrow; I am also a clinical supervisor, I run workshops and training some of them in Anxiety and wellbeing and have my private practice.
