Therapists

Hi, I'm Fiona-Jane and I offer psychotherapy and counselling. Psychotherapy is often a wide ranging and longer process, than counselling, that aims for deeper changes. Counselling usually focuses on specific issues/problems and tends to be a shorter term process. I have worked with people from different backgrounds suffering from overwhelming anxieties, despair and depression. Living like this can often be linked with self criticism and criticism towards others. People may experience low self esteem, shame and isolation. They may not understand their feelings and behaviours. People may begin to question why relationship patterns persist and they may feel very stuck. Grief arsing from a traumatic bereavement, including baby, child, parent, friend, colleague, pet, termination, miscarriage, homicide, suicide, may too evoke a wide range of difficult feelings making it hard to cope. In my experience, therapy can help un-addressed difficulties feel more manageable. It can be a catalyst for growth and healing. Whilst the facts of the past cannot be changed, your story can be updated in therapy. I offer therapy that is ethical and inclusive of culture, race, gender identity and faith. 50 minute sessions take place at the same time each week to help support the therapy process. For individual adults, I charge £70 for the initial 50 minute consultation. The fee for ongoing sessions will be negotiated at your initial consultation based on your ability to pay. Session fees range from £70 - £90. Concessional spaces are limited and dependent upon individual circumstances. During an initial first 50 minute consultation, I will invite you in this conversation to discuss your current situation, past history, reasons for seeking therapy now, and any past therapy or counselling experiences. Notice period for planned holidays and cancellation policy will be discussed too. I may ask more questions in a first session than usual and you are welcome to ask me questions. If I feel I can be of help to you I will say. Payment via BAC is required on the same day.

I draw upon psychodynamic, relational, existential and trauma theories as an integrative therapist to think about the past, present and future.

My background is in the NHS, charity sector, EAP industry and private practice. Like all UKCP registered psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors I can work with a wide range of issues, but here are some areas in which I have a special interest or additional experience: Anxiety, Depression, Relationships, Loss and Bereavement and Complex Trauma. Please email me to set-up an appointment.
