Therapists

Hi, I'm Hamilton. I became a therapist because therapy changed my own life and relationships. I wholeheartedly believe it can change yours too. You may have found your way here because a relationship in your life is currently difficult, breaking down or going through a turbulent time. Maybe its been this way for a long time or perhaps even as long as you can remember. You may be feeling let down, confused, lonely, rejected or overwhelmed. It could be that it's how you speak to and treat yourself that’s a daily struggle. In our sessions, we will give you relief from your distress, work to improve your wellbeing and support you to live with more ease. We’ll help you to cultivate healthier, deeper relationships with others, the world around you and to re-connect with yourself. We can begin with a free 20 minute consultation where you can get to know me more, see if I'm the right fit for you and ask any questions you have. You can book this through my website (hamiltonsargentcounselling.co.uk), or by sending me a message or email.

In our sessions, I will offer you a safe and accepting space. There will be no expectations - you will be able to talk, think, process, discover, feel uncertain, cry, get angry, laugh and even be creative! We'll go at your pace and at the depth you choose, exploring your experiences with care, compassion and understanding. My approach has an extensive evidence base and I hold an awareness of how trauma and shame can affect the mind and body. One of my specialisms is supporting LGBTQIA+ folks. Our work together could be about understanding and exploring aspects of your identities and how these interact with your life and relationships. Though it may be that, whatever you wish to explore, just knowing I identify as LGBTQIA+ makes therapy a safer space for you. Working creatively is optional and offers you a variety of ways to express and explore yourself. Using creative methods can help you to bring the unconscious into the conscious, and to process challenging and traumatic experiences in a safe and contained way. Approaches might include therapeutic cards and photos, working with objects in the sand, doodling and drawing, creative writing and use of metaphor. We will centre your unique experiences and needs at all points.

I am LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse and passionate about human rights. I have worked professionally in musical theatre, corporate, advertising and university environments. I love being in nature and I am working on becoming a better gardener! I am a proud parent of an energetic goldendoodle puppy. I have a BA (Hons) degree and Clinical Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling (Metanoia Institute/Middlesex University), I am a certified online and telephone therapist, trained creative therapist and have 9 years clinical experience working with a wide variety of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, family issues, low self-esteem, loss, worry and stress. I am also a qualified (PGCertHE) counselling trainer and academic writer.
