Hello, my name is Dafiny Alves I am an integrative counsellor and Clinical supervisor also a certified anxiety practitioner. I am a Registered member of the BACP and I conform to the BACP code of ethics. As an Integrative counsellor in a nutshell my approach allows me to use different tools to better help you to explore your past and or present, your relationships and if needed, help you to connect some dots and find some clarity in why you may do things in a certain way, allowing you to change if that is what you want. People often ask me how my sessions look like and if I verbalise my thoughts in the sessions or just sit in silence nodding, if you are wondering this as well the answer is: Yes! I will be honest, reflective, open, and curious in our work. As I am a creative person In my sessions we can use a range of techniques such as: grounding, mindfulness, breathing exercises, psychoeducation, solution focus exercises (CBT), with my younger clients we can play games, do some role play, drawing, crafts, use blobs/ feelings cards, videos or music; etc as long as you are comfortable to use them, as the base of my work is client -centred - I strongly believe that You know what is best for you even if right now you do not feel that you do.
Are you struggling with: Anxiety intrusive thoughts Overthinking Panic attacks insomnia and worry You don’t like or trust yourself constantly second-guessing yourself It has been a struggle to start conversations or go out and meet new people? Do you wonder if there’s something wrong with you, as you always think you upset people because of your behaviour? Do you have thoughts that keep going on and on …. in an exhausting loop in your head? Do you think you have ADHD or autism, and you do not know how to make sense of this? I can help you with that. Hello, my name is Dafiny Alves. I am a mixed-race, Brazilian, and neurodivergent Integrative counsellor, Clinical Supervisor, and Life coach. I am also a certified anxiety—and trauma-informed practitioner and a member of the BACP and NCPS. I have vast experience counselling young neurodivergent young people and young adults who are coming to terms with their neurodivergence or struggling with anxiety and depression. Get in touch for a free 15-minute introduction. I love what I do and find it extremely gratifying to work with young adults, as I learn so much from them. I don’t believe therapy is magic, but it is powerful and somewhat magical when I see my clients starting to change in the sessions and slowly getting to see for themselves the changes they were looking for when they began therapy. I have shared that I am neurodivergent. What that means for you is that if you are neurodivergent yourself, we will likely click, as I have seen this happening with all my past and present clients. Things to know about me: Others experience me as quirky or peculiar, and I have a funny way of speaking (I was also told I have an accent). I am easy to talk with, and I don’t judge. Ah! And I am absolutely useless with numbers because of my dyscalculia, but I get there eventually. Problems I work with: Anxiety Intrusive thoughts Negative thoughts OCD Worries, overthinking, rumination Suicidal thoughts Self-harm Depression Low -self-esteem Neurodivergent clients
I have experience counselling a diverse range of people; pre-teens, adolescents, young adults, from different cultural backgrounds including neurodivergent people like me, since 2018 when I first started counselling, my experience has been in school settings, independent mental health charities, I also offered short-term therapy to Portuguese and Italians speakers’ clients via the IAPT service in South London. I coordinated a counselling service in a women’s only charity in Harrow; I am also a clinical supervisor, I run workshops and training some of them in Anxiety and wellbeing and have my private practice.
