My professional career working with children, young people and their families span over 20 years. In my previous role as Head of a Nursery school and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCO) I worked in partnership with local authorities, the NHS and Private Sector to help Children, Young People and their families gain the additional support needed to overcome difficulty. In my current role as Therapy Team Manager and Complex Case Therapist, I manage a whole school therapeutic service as well as offering short- and long-term complex case therapy to primary aged children, whilst guiding parents and teachers. My work in the field of Youth Justice allows me to consider the impact society sometimes plays in shaping negative experiences for some young people and their families who live in the most financially deprived areas, with this understanding I work directly in the community to bring change and challenge inequality. Being Interculturally trained, my theoretical approach embraces the richness of difference and diversity as I lean into the protective factors that the wealth of the individuals culture brings in order to foster a stronger sense of self-worth, healing, and growth.
